We love winters in Toliara! The boys enjoy the break from school...probably because it involves plenty of beach trips and ice cream. And with a pregnant mommy, I have to admit we visited the ice cream shop a little (okay...a lot) more than usual...as in every day. Despite the break from our busy homeschool schedule, I think we are ready for the new school year to begin. Well, at least Mom and Dad are ; ) Eli will be starting 4th grade, Titus Kindergarden, and Jude Pre-K.

In June, we welcomed a team of ten from Lakeview Baptist in Auburn, AL. This group of interns came for 40 days to live and work alongside us in Toliara. They were able to get a feel for African missions as they ministered in a variety of capacities throughout the city. Their time was focused on discipleship and evangelism with seminary, ESL, and college students. They were also able to spend some time working with Grant in the bush, visiting and encouraging church leaders and helping with logistics on the ground. At the end of the trip, we all made an overnight trip to a nearby national park (Isalo), where we enjoyed God's amazing handiwork as we hiked through the mountains. It was a great ending to our time with this hard working team.

A few weeks after Lakeview headed home, we hosted four men who have come to work with us faithfully over the years. We have been incredibly blessed to have Southbridge Fellowship partner with us in such a unique and intentional way. The first part of their trip was spent investing in the Christian youth through discipleship, evangelism and worship. It has been really cool to see how these men have fostered real relationships with these Malagasy believers over the years.

In the bush, the team spent their days visiting each of the first generation Mahafaly churches. Each village has been going through their own struggles and the team sought to encourage each community of believers uniquely, speaking truth and encouragement into their lives. As they sought to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the people, they were given many opportunities for broad seed sowing. We praise God for these opportunities and look forward to seeing how God continues to grow the body of Christ among the Mahafaly.
