Spending Time With Bill and Judy
After the team left, Bill and Judy stayed behind to spend a
few extra weeks with us. Bill, Judy, and
Grant took another trip out to the bush for follow-up and I stayed home with
the kiddos. Bill and Judy had a great
trip, and Grant even ended up leaving them in a village on their own. They spent the day in the fields, riding ox
carts, and investing in the lives of the people of Besatra.
Of course, our crate happened to arrive smack in the middle
of their trip. I can’t say that I was
happy about handling the crate and all those boxes while Grant was away, but I
am sure he was just as unhappy coming back to a house filled up with boxes and
projects that needed to be done.
Fortunately Bill and Judy helped us put together everything from a patio
set to bicycles for the boys. Despite
the disaster in the house, it was pretty exciting to have 5 years worth of
birthday, anniversary, and Christmas presents!
A couple of days after their return, we all headed out for a
trip north to Tana. We stayed at a
gorgeous hotel in Isalo. The rooms were
luxury tents that overlooked the rugged mountains of Isalo National Park. In the morning Grant, Bill, Judy, and Eli
went hiking to an oasis in the desert and that afternoon we headed out for the
Lak Hotel (one of our favorite getaways outside of the rainforest). After that we continued our trip up to Tana –
and we are now in Antsirabe, taking in a day of rest. Tomorrow we head out again and on the 11th
Bill and Judy will fly back to America.
In the meantime, we will be getting to know our new
teammates, the Sprankles, who just arrived in Mada this week. They will be working as church planters with
the Masikoro people. Praise God for this
family – it has been a long journey in getting here. So I am sure they are full of all kinds of
emotions this week. Please keep them in
your prayers!
