Role Change

After living here on our own for so long, we knew that adding teammates was going to be an adjustment. In 2012, we will have a team of 8 units (18 people)! We are really enjoying every minute of it. We have been living and working together side by side. Our home is always full of people, and we are loving our big family!

As you can imagine, we have had quite a role change recently. The idea of being team leaders has been a little overwhelming, but we really feel like God has worked everything in His time. One of our biggest concerns about our exponentially growing team, was that we were not going to have time for church planting among the Mahafaly. We talked a lot this week about how much time we are going to need to set aside for leadership responsibilities. If we had received teammates 2 years ago, there is no way we could have invested in the Mahafaly people the way we were able to. Being alone really allowed us to spend much needed time learning the culture and language, translating the stories into Mahafaly, and building relationships with the people. Because much of the difficult foundation work has been done, we will be able to continue our ministry with the Mahafaly at the same pace. God really does have the best timing, even when we think we know better!
