Southbridge ORIENTATION

The arrival of the Southbridge team was incredibly surreal. We have been working together planning this trip for so long, that it didn't seem real that they could finally be here. Fortunately, all of their bags arrived with them (minus one guitar that has caught up!) and their flights were uneventful. Despite being VERY jetlagged from their numerous flights, they were eager to get going!

For the first few days here in Tulear we had a time of orientation to the town, our ministry, and Malagasy culture. We were all able to spend time sharing our testimonies and how God brought us here. It was really inspiring how God has been working in all of our lives to get us to this point. Regardless of how different our backgrounds are, one thing is the same - we all serve an amazing and faithful God!

During their time of orientation the team was able to see the town, ride on pousse-pousse carts, tour the local clinic, visit with the Director of Agriculture, and meet lots of Malagasy people. Lots of observations were made, and it was really interesting to hear what everyone thought of life here. The team was surprised by the innovative ways of the people, and seeing how the people were content despite their material struggles. While the poverty and sanitary problems were overwhelming, the team left this time of orientation feeling a sense of hope for the people.
