Follow-up

After hearing that over 50 people had professed Christ as their savior in the village of Besatra, I have to admit that I was a little skeptical. I know that it is common practice in Africa for people to say that they accept Jesus in order to appease the missionary. They want to make the missionary happy, but ultimately never truly give their hearts to the Lord. This leads to the syncretism of Christianity and ancestral worship. Our pray for the past few weeks has been that God would reveal the people who have truly received Christ, and that a close knit group of faithful believers would form.
Grant has made two trips to Besatra since the evangelism week in order to do follow-up. Both trips have consistently shown the faith of these new believers. Every day, the same group of about 50 people come to hear the stories and learn about God. They work hard to remember the stories, ask questions, and seem very genuine in their new faith. It has been more than we ever could have hoped for!
Our strategic leader, Matt, came down for a visit, and was able to go out to Besatra with Grant for one of these follow up trips. It was exciting to be able to share in the ministry with Matt. He was such an encouragement for us, and he really couldn't have come at a better time.
