And now the bad...

So Grant's trip was looking pretty peachy! He decided to head for the village of Sainta. It is about half way between Betioky and Ejeda (two small towns along the dirt road). The road is pretty bad right now, as it is rainy season. The normally rough and tough to pass road, is now covered in a layer of mud.

As Grant was driving, he drove through a puddle. Unfortunately, he didn't realize the depth until it was too late. The puddle was deeper than he expected, and water splashed up onto his hood. Water got into the engine, and the car died. He wasn't able to call anyone as his battery on his phone had died that morning. So there he was - stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Grant had lots of time to think during the several hours he sat on the side of the road waiting for someone to pass by. I am not sure what he was thinking, but I can pretty much guarantee it wasn't his finest hour!

Fortunately, a large truck came by that was able to tow him back to Betioky. Unfortunately, they charged him most of his money to do it. What was left was paid to the "mechanics" he found in Betioky. They accomplished telling him that they couldn't fix it - and that's about it. :) So, he set off to find a large enough truck to get him back to Tulear. He finally found one that loaded up his truck INSIDE of their truck and off they went! It took him an incredibly long time to get home - but he made it safe and sound. We praise God for keeping him safe!! Thought you would enjoy a few pics!
