Sick Grant


Grant left on Monday for a trip out to the Mahafaly people. Unfortunately, 24 hours later, he was on his way home with the flu! Grant is already doing better, but is disappointed that he missed the week with the people.

During the day that he was in Mahafaly land, he was able to spend several hours in the village of Besatra. The people were excited to see him, and invited him to spend several nights in the village. Grant had been working on memorizing some short stories from the Bible in Mahafaly ("Creation to Christ"). He asked if he could practice with them, and also if they could correct his mistakes. The people listened eagerly as he chopped his way through the first part. After going through it by memory, he went through it again by reading it. The people were so excited to hear him speak Mahafaly, and said that the story was very clear! The leader asked if he could look at the paper, and then wanted to read the next four stories out loud to the people in attendance! They heard about who God is and the creation of the world, man, and angels. They learned about how man sinned against God, and how that special relationship was broken.

It is so exciting to be getting to a point where we can share the Bible with these people. They are so eager to learn! Grant was able to make so much progress with language skills and sharing the stories with the people in just a short amount of time. We wonder how the week would have been had he been able to spend the 3 full days with the village. Satan definitely doesn't want us working there, and is doing whatever he can to keep the Mahafaly people captive. Pray that Satan would not have victory over these people!! Pray that we would stand strong against our enemy!

Hey Jude!!!

We are excited to share that baby Jude has arrived! It was an unexpected and early arrival, but a welcome one nonetheless. His due date was November 28th, so we had about three more weeks to wait. So on Friday (Nov 9th), we drove up to Tampa for a baby appointment. The doctor checked me and said that there was no action going on...no signs of an early arrival. So we began the 2 hour drive back to Port Charlotte. About an hour from home those tricky braxton hicks contractions were getting pretty regular and by the time we had returned home they were coming less than 5 minutes a part! So we dropped off the kids with Grandma and headed back up to Tampa, praying that we wouldn't have to deliver a baby on the side of the road during the long drive back! Once we arrived at the hospital, it was confirmed that I was indeed in labor (2 1/2 weeks early). I was so blessed to have a special childhood friend be my labor and delivery nurse. Addition - Multiplication

We currently have two groups of believers that have been meeting regularly (Kilimary and Besatra). They are at an exciting part of their journey to becoming a reproducible church. They are about to finish learning (studying and memorizing) the evangelism track of stories, and are ready to go out to nearby villages and share the stories! In the next month they will be starting a new set of discipleship stories focused on developing their understanding of themselves in context of the Church. Last week, Grant, Doug, and Nathan headed down south to hold another evangelism event in two villages we have been developing relationships for several years (Andremba and Tanantsoa). Both villages have shown great trust in Grant, and have expressed their readiness to hear about God. The guys spent the past week going through the evangelism story set (20 stories from creation to Christ) with both villages.
