Family Road Trip

We just got back from a long trip up to the capital. Tana is 2 full days of windy roads from where we live in the south. We were really nervous about Eli getting sick (as he has struggled with it before)- but were so pleased that he only got "sick" once. (Out of a total of 32 hours in a car we count that as a success!!)

We had a good time in Tana, as we we attended a meeting that taught us how to prepare for an emergency disaster on the island. We also learned how to better meet our people's physical needs through various community development projects. After our meeting was over, we were all able to celebrate Thanksgiving together (just a few days early). It was a great time to catch up with all of our missionary colleagues and also to stock up on some much needed food staples!

Eli had a little scare one morning while we were still sleeping. A surge in the electricity caused a fire in the room he was sleeping in (he was alone). The fire caused a lot of smoke (pic above of soot on Eli's face), but burned out on its own. Eli awoke crying, and so we were able to get him out of the room pretty quickly. We were so blessed that God protected him! Despite his"incident" Eli loved his time in Tana- as he was able to enjoy old friends and modern toys (see pic above).
