An Act of Kindess Humbles Us
On Grant's last visit to the village of Besatra, Eli was still getting over being sick. When Grant was in the village they took turns sharing about struggles they were going through. Grant told them that he would pray for them, and also shared about Eli's sickness from that week.
When Grant returned to the village this past week, they were eager to find out how Eli was doing. They were excited to hear that he was doing better. A little girl stepped out of the group of about 50, and presented Grant with a 1000 Ariary bill (equivalent to 50 cents). Then a lady explained that because Eli was feeling better, they wanted to give him a gift. They asked if Grant could buy Eli some cookies as a treat.
Although 50 cents doesn't seem like much to Americans, this amount of money is great to them. Of course we didn't want to take their money-but to not take the money would have been very disrespectful. We are so overwhelmed and humbled by this act of generosity, and it reminds us of how God is working in their hearts to love and accept us.
