It's Not Always About the Destination!

What a day we have had today! This weekend our friend, Tessa, came down from the capital to visit us. Michelle and I planned a fun girls day for her. We planned to take her to Crater Lake, a volcanic lake about 1 hour outside of our city. After 3 u-turns and 2 hours of lost time later we found ourselves on a VERY unfamiliar, deserted dirt road. It didn't take us that long to discover that the car was incapable of surviving the massive ruts and holes in the road. About two minutes after we came to this realization, we had bottomed out and were stuck in the middle of nowhere! Like well trained African missionary gals :) we headed out in search of a stick to help dig out the road from underneath the car...hey...it sounded like a good idea at the time! Needless to say we were stuck until some Malagasy men drove by on their bikes. They spent about 30 minutes helping get us out, and we finally did! We decided that we would give up on trying to find Crater Lake and headed back to town. We stopped at a lake a long the way and took a long walk around it. (Pictures above) When we made it back into town we stopped by the store on the way home...only to return to a car with the keys locked inside! Fortunately, our husbands "rescued" us. They sure did enjoy giving us a hard time about our day when we got home! Regardless of how mindless they think we are, we had so much fun just getting to spend time with each other! It's not always about the destination!
