Market Shopping

A lot of life here is spent buying, preparing, cooking, and cleaning food. But it all begins at the market. The market here is huge! We have gotten lost in it several times! All of the food is divided in sections....bananas here, potatoes there...so it is quite an adventure searching for everything you need. The paths are narrow and are extremely muddy. It is crowded with people, baskets, bicycles, and even pigs! The vendors are always happy to see the vaza (white person) in hopes of getting lots of money from us, but they are quickly disappointed when they realize we know the fair prices. There is a wide variety of fruits and veggies here, and they are generally very good priced and great tasting! After a morning of market shopping we feel exhausted and worn out, but it's a great opportunity be meet people and practice our Malagasy.
