Missionaries and Fish Heads
We had a great (adventurous!) day today. Our mission was to understand how native Africans view missionaries. While many Africans see missionaries as aid workers, we did hear many people say that our primary purpose is to share the Gospel. Some even said church planting. One non Christian man said that "missionaries bring people together..."
After learning about the Zambian's view of missionaries we went to a "restaurant" and ate lunch. We ate nshima, pumpkin leaves, and beans. The food was excellent! The only thing that made me quesy was Loveness' giant fish head that she ordered. The restaurant was small, maybe a 10 by 10 room. There were about 8 people eating in the dark, concrete room. The cook prepared the food in the street outside. Despite my concerns about getting ill I have remained healthy!
